Success in Beta

Otherwise you can try anything and everything and it won't work due to the million impediments placed in the sim engine.

If that's true, then couldn't we just look at their game logs and use the plays they use?

Yeah, but I hate doing that and giving them power. :(

I haven't gotten to my game with him yet but I know how it'll go.

To prove I'm locked in on this: Ioanblood is going to be the new dominator of the era and who really thinks he's that good.

I nearly left Legends.

https://lol.myfootballnow.com/log/3671/655213

Beta is a joke. NHFalcon nearly got me. No weapons @ RB. A WR I contained. RBs I mashed and ended in the game and I nearly lost. ....LOL I got 2 outs and I dinged up 2 others. I out-strated to oblivion and barely won. The RBs are all garbage too. Honestly I should quit the game.

If I had lost, I abandon.

I feel like I’m coaching a low tier high school football team in Beta. Being able to move the ball to the opp 50 yard line feels like a victory.

There's nothing built in the sim: no momentum, no taking into account one strategy being superior to the other, no acknowledgement of an RB core being blasted off the field which should fuel me to propel and end him, tbh.

It takes nothing into account.

It is what it is....like I posted elsewhere...the real poll for if BETA should become the new version was

45-3

48 public leagues have had the option to switch to Beta for 5-6 months now and only 3 leagues which I believe Admiral admins chose to switch!

I was excited to maybe switch myself so I did a deep dive into the MFN-1 threads but more importantly checked the stats for 12 seasons of Beta game play.

It looked promising at 1st because blocking improved so rules for defensive line and punt blocks didn't need to be used. They tinkered with speed which should have been an improvement too but in the end passing numbers bottomed out!

I'm looking at every season in full leagues with a diverse owner group and the average QB threw for around 3,000 yards with 15 TDs and 13 INT while being sacked 50 times.

Receivers become next to useless as no 1,000 yard receivers have ever happened along with no 4,000 yard or 30 TD QBs.....12 season!!!!!

This isn't a personal thing to me....I'm looking at this through a very wide lens!!!

20 year leagues with tons of history tracking stats, ALLPROS, MVPs and Hall of Fames....how do I even correlate the sudden and immediate drop off in all passing stats???

I'm sure everybody here watches the NFL and if after this season, with all the exciting primetime games where no lead is safe and elite QBs are winning high scoring games. I mean look look at the Chargers/Browns game where the score was 47-42 or the Ravens game where the score was 22-3 near the end of the 3rd quarter and Lamar Jackson went into a phone booth (if they even exist anymore) and couldn't miss throwing 37/43 for 442 yards 4 TDs plus added 64 yards rushing....500 yards from 1 player!!!

Now imagine next season, somehow they implemented crazy new rules and QBs can't throw for 300 yards in game, the defense rules the day and scores become noticeably lower...sure some old school viewers would low it but do you think ratings which are at an alltime high would rise, stay the same or plummet.

Viewers would drop some at 1st but the majority would stay in the beginning with the satellite and terrestrial radio shows would be inundated with calls complaining about the new rules. As the league, individual teams, players and fans adjusted to the new NFL, viewership would continue to decline, teams would look to get out from under large QB contracts because they aren't important anymore, defensive players and offensive line players would demand more money all the while NFL stadiums start to have noticeable empty seats.

By year 2 and 3 of the new rule NFL, Advertisers would stop paying millions for Ads as the neutered NFL passing game has destroyed interest, fantasy leagues fold and Baseball, Hockey and Basketball gain viewers and interest.

By year 4 or 5, Vince McMahan starts the XFL version 3.0 with promises to bring back the passing game and offense.

By year 10, the new exciting XFL has split viewers as it goes head to head with the NFL. Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert sign mega million dollar contracts with XFL teams and college players are subjected to choosing between the NFL and XFL as both leagues hold their own drafts.

By year 20, francises in the NFL have folded while new francises spring up in the the XFL. Nobody can really understand why the NFL made the decision to limit offense and stubbornly wouldn't change back as they lost viewers, money and actual teams all the while opening the door for an upstart league to shatter their near monopoly on football.

It turns out the league commissioner has been doing other things and lost interest in the NFL after his severe rule changes made because he listened to a few of his inner circle who secretly wanted a return to smashmouth football.

30 years later, Shane and Stephanie, Vince's kids who inherited the XFL buy out the NFL merging 8 of the remaing 12 francise into the XFL.

50 years later, the XFL is a multi-billion dollar business and Ken Burns son (I don't know if he even has any kids) releases the Documentary "The Rise and Fall of the NFL Empire" and he is awarded a Peabody award.

LOL

Nice touching correlating it to pro-wrestling, which I got back into a few years back. Great analogy with your XFL/NFL comparisons.

Whoa poll is now tied! I would have thought 4.5 would have won easily.

It's a vote for parity. They want the power out of the GMs hands and controlled rather by JDB's mucked up sim engine where everyone has a chance.

In comparison, with v4.5 this past sim cycle I had an irate IHOP against me in an MFN-# league (MFN-74), Divisional Round. I pulled punt block and held him to 3 points and that's someone who had anger channeling at me like Emperor Palpatine's Force Lightning.

But in v4.6 NHFalcon nearly clowns me with nothing RBs I decimated to OUT status.
